Farm-to-Inbox: yoga outside vs inside, tips to start your homestead, & are gardeners the new yogis?

Here are 2 "seeds" of truth to plant in your heart & mind and 1 "ripe question" to reflect on and take with you this week...

Outdoor Yoga

2 SEEDS TO PLANT

I.
Where do you normally practice yoga? In your favorite studio? In your living room? In your backyard? Your neighborhood park? Or maybe out in the wild, under the warmth of the sun or the starry sky.

“You should sit in nature for 20 minutes a day… unless you’re busy, then you should sit for an hour.” -Zen Saying

Here are 3 reasons to motivate you to move it outdoors:
Vitamin D Absorption: Exposure to natural sunlight allows your body to produce vitamin D, which is essential for overall health, boosting your mood and immune system.
Sense of Freedom: Outdoor yoga can be liberating both physically and spiritually. You are no longer confined by four walls and your breaths feel deeper and more expansive!
Connection with Nature: Expand your perspective, feel wonder and awe and even find a sense of unity with the entirety of the Universe.

“Step outside for a while – calm your mind. It is better to hug a tree than to bang your head against a wall continually.” – Rasheed Ogunlaru

II.
What does homesteading even mean? It is a lifestyle of being self-sufficient and sustainable. Do you live in a city or urban areas? No worries! You can start homesteading right where you are.
- Grow a backyard garden
- Raise a few chickens for fresh eggs
- Bake your own bread
- Learn about canning, pickling and preserving foods
- Dehydrate food to preserve it
- Visit a homestead to volunteer

1 RIPE QUESTION TO REFLECT

I.

"A garden requires patient labor and attention. Plants do not grow merely to satisfy ambitions or to fulfill good intentions. They thrive because someone expended effort on them." -Liberty Hyde Bailey

Think about something you are caring for right now. Maybe a skill you are nurturing or a relationship you are growing. How are you creating the proper environment for this seed to flourish? This environment starts within you first. How can you tend to your garden like a yogi? What can you do this week to really effort towards this goal?

Until next week,

Veritas Island
